Vision coverage is available at any time through VSP, EyeMed, or Blue Shield. I suggest applying for whichever company your preferred optometrist accepts. You can view the plan choices, and apply online at the websites listed below.

Blue Shield’s vision plans offer access to EyeMed's network. They also provide access to major retail chains, including Costco, Walmart, LensCrafters, and independent eye care providers.

Blue Shield’s monthly rates are roughly half the price of VSP & EyeMed. There is also no 12-month commitment and you can use the plan right away. The coverage will start on the 1st of the following month if you apply by the 15th.
